Monday After breakfast at our overnight we will continue west to Enniscrone, where we will arrive at the Ocean Sands Hotel where we will be staying for the next 4 nights. Once arrived you will have time to get settled and explore.
Tuesday This morning, we head for the beautiful village of Leenane at the head of the Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjord, where we board our boat for a cruise. The views of the landscape are stunning as we cruise towards the mouth of the fjord, perhaps being followed by a pod of dolphins if we are lucky. Once back in Leenane, we travel to Kylemore Abbey, the home of a community of Benedictine nuns since 1920. The nuns have lovingly restored the abbey, Gothic church and the magnificent 6-acre Victorian walled garden which is divided by a beautiful mountain stream.
Wednesday We head to Sligo where we have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the poet Yeats and visit the sights and scenes that inspired him. Attractions include the Sligo County Museum & Art Gallery, Yeats Society Memorial Building and Sligo Abbey. Following this we have some time at leisure in Enniscrone.
Thursday Today we discover the magic of County Mayo with a scenic drive to the islands of the Wild Atlantic Way. We begin our journey along the shores of Lough Conn and Lough Cullen, through Newport and Mullranny before crossing the bridge across to charming Achill, Ireland’s largest island. We make a stop at Keel for lunch then continue our journey on our Atlantic coastal drive, returning via a stop at Foxford Woollen Mills.
