BAFTA nominated Call the Midwife is back for a 9th season and so are the Call the Midwife Official Location tours at The Historic Dockyard Chatham.
If you’re a fan of the hit series, a trip to see where Call the Midwife is filmed should be top of your bucket list.
Walk in the footsteps of Nurse Trixie Franklin, Sister Julienne and Dr Turner and explore where the real drama happens. The walking tour is led by your very own costumed midwife. Along the tour you’ll recognise the cobbled streets and buildings of ‘Poplar’ plus iconic locations such as the Grosvenor Hotel and ‘Chummy’s Hill’, where Nurse Noakes famously learnt to ride her bike. With a picture book to help trigger your memories, you’ll see just how Neal Street Productions transform 400 year old Chatham dockyard into to 1950’s East London. The tour culminates with our exclusive Call the Midwife exhibition containing set, props and costumes.
The official tour has been overseen by Call the Midwife producers, Neal Street Productions. It features material from the latest series, as well as props, costumes and set, all guided by your personal costumed midwife. You will have time to explore the rest of The Dockyard site (before or after your tour).
IT'S A WALKING TOUR
This is a walking tour with some uneven surfaces, please ensure you wear comfortable foot wear. It is wheelchair friendly but please advise us in advance if you have any mobility issues and we will accommodate you the best we can.
